Little Monkey Baby Blanket

Well I finally finished my baby blanket just in time for my friend’s baby shower. There is no minute like the last minute.

I worked out the graph on my own. Then worked it out, put a yellow border around it, and VOILA a perfect little baby blanket for a monkey theme.

Yellow was the best color choice for the border for 2 reasons. It goes perfectly with Curious George and we don’t know the sex of the baby yet!

Poor little Marshmallow….

This idea just came to me. I thought it was funny.

If you are a camper or at least like roasting marshmallows then you should think this is funny as well.

So go! Make poor little flaming marshmallows!

Here is the pattern. It is also available in PDF format below.

Please forgive me, I worked this up VERY fast. If there are any mistakes or anything is confusing or unclear please leave a comment or contact me. I would like to get it fixed if I can.

THE PATTERN:

What You Will Need:

White worsted weight yarn

Black Worsted weight yarn

Fire-Like colored worsted weight yarn. (Red Heart Super Savor “Sunshine Print” was used in sample)
Yarn Needle

A stick from a tree.
The ability to crochet using the “magic ring” technique

Top / Bottom:

Make 2 circles (1 white, 1 black):

sc 10 in a magic ring.

Pull together to create a circle.

2 sc in each sc around. (20 sc)

sc in each sc around (20 sc)

fasten off.

Middle (Body) Section:

Ch 7

row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch after (6 sc)

row 2: ch 1, turn. sc in each sc across

row 3 – 22: repeat row 2

Bring row 1 and 22 together and sl st through each side to connect the rows and make

a cylinder.

Fasten off

With white yarn Sew cylinder around white (Bottom) circle.

(this will be the wrong side out… so after these part are sewn together

turn right side out.)

Mouth:

With Black

ch 2

5 sc in 2nd ch from hook

Sl st in 1st sc.

Fasten off

Sew mouth onto Body

Sew “X” eyes above mouth

Flames:

ch 20. sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch. (19 sc)

ch 1 turn

* sc in sc

hdc in next sc

dc in next sc

ch 6

sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch after (5 sc on chain)

dc in next sc from original row

hdc in next sc

sc in next sc

repeat from * across

sc in last sc

ch 1, turn

sc in each st, working your way up the peak you created with your chains.

At the top of the peak ch 3 and work sc down the opposite side so to

continue along your row.

Ch 1 turn

sl st in next 3 sc

* {now working up the peak}

sc in next sc

hdc in next sc

dc in next sc

hdc in next sc

sc in next sc

dc, ch 3m dc in ch 3 space

{now working down opposite side of peak}

sc in next sc

hdc in next sc

dc in next sc

hdc in next sc

sc in next sc

sl st in each sc until you get to next 5 sc going up the peak

Repeat from *

Sl st to the end of row and fasten off

Pull top of peaks to make them slightly more pointy

Sew the ends together

Now you have what almost looks like a little flame crown

Final Assembly:

Sew this to the top of the black circle.

Sew black top onto white body. Stuff generously before sewing completely shut.

Your poor little marshmallow is ready to go.

Find a stick from the yard for that real roasted marshmallow look and you have yourself a conversation piece!

Well Mother’s Day is in little less than a week. So of course I had to finish my project for mom. And… of course since I have to ship this to my mom I finished just in time. There’s no minute like the last-minute.

This is only part of the project for mom. The other piece I did is a top-secret original pattern I am working on to hopefully publish someday soon so I didn’t want to reveal it yet!

Wedding Gift Afghan

So,, as usual I am slacking in the update department. So I thought before April got away from me I would post another project I completed semi-recently. This was an afghan I made as a wedding gift for a very good friend.

The photo was one of her engagements photos and the blanket was done in her wedding colors. The corners were Granny Squares. ( Pattern for those can be found HERE ) And the top and bottom was done in a Filet crochet pattern with their monogram on the bottom and their wedding date at the top. I think it turned out pretty well and they really liked it.

I know I am behind the times but I only just now signed up for Ravelry. I love it. It ha turned out to be an awesome tool for keeping everything organized. They have the feature to organize your stash which I would love to utilize at some point in the future, but that would be a HUGE project since I have so much yarn. Plus, right now that would take away from my crochet time. I went from having nothing to do to having 5 projects on my list that I would like to get done. But, again, Ravelry to the rescue because now I can see what I am working on and keep a queue of things that I am going to do.

This is the first project I want to get done. I want to make this star afghan for a baby that is on the way. Actually, any day now I should be hearing that the new little girl is here! Good thing this is a quick pattern!

Now all I need to do is crochet, crochet, crochet, crochet, crochet, and then crochet some more. I will get everything done, eventually….

I made this pattern a long, long time ago but never did anything with it. So why not kick off my new blog with a free awesome graph?! This is yours to do with what you would like, with one condition, you MUST send me pictures of your finished project!!! That seems fair enough

This was meant to be an afghan. But the pattern is two graphs, one for each side so you could change the direction, or only use one and make a tapestry… whatever creative idea strikes you

Quite a while ago I was pretty big into the online craft scene. I had a blog about my crochet, I participated in forums, etc. Then I got bored with it and other things in my life took over so I never really thought about it. But I am back! New screen name, new ideas, new everything! I even got my stash somewhat organized. As you can see with a small portion to the right. However, there are at least 5 other giant tubs of yarn stacked around my apartment. I realized that I am indeed a crazy person when it comes to yarn and crochet.

But now, I hope to expand my crochet horizons again. I am working on patterns now and I have a bunch of new projects to post that I have done in the past months and months of being MIA from the online world. So welcome! I hope you enjoy what I do as much as I enjoy doing it.
